Someone mentioned about the book. Although, I saw this book everywhere years back, even in India, knowing that was a novel I did not buy it. I am an avid reader, I must have read about a thousand books but I do not read novels. As I started Shantaram, I could not put it down. I finished the book in 8 days. I have many books that changed my life but definitely Shantaram is one of the best books I have read. I resonated so much with GDR and his writing. Through his writing, I felt GDR is a sensitive, kind, beautiful Soul. I felt sincerity in his story and I knew nothing about the author. After reading Shantaram, I became curios who the author is and how much of Shantaram is fiction vs. real story. I watched every video on YouTube and read every article I came across about GDR. I knew Linbaba's story was real, I felt it as I was reading it. When I learned more about the author, I was beyond trilled to see such an amazing, beautiful, sensitive Soul. A true gentleman. GDR is such a beautiful human being. One thing I want to point out, the introduction to GDR starts: a heroin addict, convicted bank rubber, etc. I would reframe his introduction: a writer, a philosopher, a sensitive soul, lost his way into heroin...and then found his way back to light and love...People forget to mention why he strayed from his path as a writer for a while. I love, love GDR! I read GDR's Spiritual Path while on a plane from NYC to MEX. I did not want to finish it. I read it without any expectations. I knew is not Shantaram. I loved how he shared his spiritual path in such a candid, sincere way.
