It replaced an Aquabot TR4, and compared to that, this is so much lighter and easier to use. The debris compartments just pull out, flip open the door and spray them out with the hose, pop them back in. I saw some reviewers saying it died on them and I have to wonder if they left the control box in the sun? I did have an issue one day when the bot was in the pool all night and I went out mid afternoon to run it again. It wouldn't go on, but it was super hot outside and the box was hot. I disconnected it and brought the box in the house for an hour or so. When it was cool, I took it back outside and it worked fine. From now on, I make sure to find a shady place for the box. It picks up a lot of stuff. It climbs walls, steps, and varies in pattern. The literature says that it recognizes the patterns - similar to IRobot. Since it seems to finish in different areas of the pool, that appears to be correct. The only downside…not enough time settings. The presets start at 48 hours. I wish you could program for every day. The baskets (2) are decent size. The mesh is extremely fine so it picks up a ton of stuff. And the baskets are easy to clean. If it works like this for 2-3 years, I’ll be extremely happy. ### ⭐⭐⭐ I don't see how this has any "mapping technology *by J***H on September 23, 2023* I have tried several automatic pool cleaners that claim to do all sorts of fantastic things. The reality is that they all fall short. I had tried the Dolphin previous to this and it did a great job of filtering the water, but it did not scrub the waterline as it claimed and it had no mapping system so it missed a lot! The sub $5oo models are not even worth trying for in-ground pools. Having said that, this model was still almost $400 less than the Dolphin, and claims to have mapping... I must say, I don't see this thing mapping anything, but my expectations were already pretty low. It skips the edges, likes to climb up certain areas and continue to go up until it floats backwards away from the wall. It likes to clean the same are multiple times while ignoring other areas. I admit, it has done an acceptable job this past pool season, I have not had to clean the pool filter, so for that I am grateful. The filters on this compared to the Dolphin are so much more tedious and annoying to clean, they really need to come up with a better filter system, there is no way to remove the panels and debris gets stuck in all the crevices, nearly impossible to get clean. Still, it was $400 less!
