Well, I had to write about this item. As soon as I got it, I tried a few of my daughter's colored pencils. Not only did it sharpen well, but it was quick too! We even sharpened some BRAND NEW pencils never sharpened before and they only took between 5-10 seconds. Also, although it doesn't really stop sharpening per se, it's VERY easy to tell when it is done. I didn't count but I'd have to say that between colored pencils and regular pencils I must have sharpened almost 200 already today and it's still going strong! Although it works the best on Crayola, any colored pencil will sharpen fine and without eating away at your colored pencils! The only quibs is it takes some getting used to, sharpening the pencils vertically, and the shavings tray is quite small so you have to empty it frequently. Oh yeah - and don't make my mistake and keep the sharpener in its normal position while taking off the shavings tray or they will spill everywhere! You'll want to either unplug it and take the whole unit with you to the garbage OR, tip it upside down, tap a few times, and THEN take off the shavings tray.
