It's extremely realistic, with a little 'dead' undergrowth if you part the grass. It's does a really nice job of knocking debris off of our shoes, as we use it at our main entrance in to our basement.It is kind of slippery, on both sides. My shoes feel like they are gliding on it if it gets matted down, but it's not a big deal. The back side is a black rubbery material that you would expect of an outdoor rug but the threads go through it so it takes from the traction on slick floors. Easily solved with some carpet tape.
