Don't let the "single-braced" or "medium weight" descriptions fool you. These are SOLID stands. In fact, they're heavier than you'd expect -- the weight is about 2/3's of what my Pearl heavy weight 900 series stands weigh. For cymbal use, I'm replacing my (extremely) heavy double-braced stands with these. Unless you're planning on hanging a 14+" tom plus two large cymbals, these will do the trick. The Yamaha 700 series stands are a great way to get pro-level stability in a cymbal stand and save a little weight a little weight at a good price. If there is any "negative," it is that, like any hideaway boom stand, there are certain boom angles you cannot use between where the boom stows and where it clears the hardware for extension.

I purchased this stand to replace my Mapex 800 with an 18" crash that's my go to. The quality of yamaha hardware is ridiculous, they look beautiful and are super sturdy with the wide foot base. Barely any visible shake.
