MK-7 activates the proteins that incorporate calcium into bones (where it is needed) and activates the proteins that bind calcium to prevent deposits in arteries and smooth muscle walls (where it increases cardiovascular risk factors). Vitamin K2 is an essential cofactor for the activation of proteins belonging to the Gla-protein family, of which one of the most studied is osteocalcin. Osteocalcin plays a role in the integration of calcium into the bone matrix, a function that defines vitamin K2 as essential to bone health. I found this answer on https://www.nutraceuticalbusinessreview.com/ **Q: What is the MK for?** A: Vitamin K2 from animal sources is known as MK-4 while Vitamin K2 produced by bacterial fermentation as found in natto is known as MK-7 I take this vitamin along with 10,000 IUs of D3. The K2 directs the calcium to the correct places and keeps it out of your blood stream. I orderd Dennis Goodmans K2; The Missing Nutrient to Heart and Bone Health, along with, Jeff T Bowles The Miraculous Results Of Extremely High Doses Of The Sunshine Hormone Vitamin D3 My Experiment With Huge Doses Of D3 From 25,000 To 50,000 To 100,000 Iu A Day Over A 1 Year Period The MK 7 is the most recommended. **Q: Does this product have beeswax in the ingredients?** A: Doesn't say that it has beeswax http://www.solgar.com/SolgarProducts/Natural-Vitamin-K2-MK-7-100-mcg-Vegetable-Capsules.htm **Q: Is this Kosher?** A: packaging says Gluten and Wheat free - suitable for lacto-vegetarian- on another part of the label it reads: contains milk and soy, but free of: gluten, wheat, yeast, sugar, sodium, artificial flavor, sweetener, preservatives and color. As to "Kosher" - there is no symbol on it that indicates 'Kosher' status... hope this helps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solgar Naturally Sourced Vitamin K2 *by M***M on May 22, 2026* Solgar Naturally Sourced Vitamin K2 is a high-quality supplement designed to support bone strength and cardiovascular health.
