My deck furniture holds it down when it is windy or you can use the stakes that it comes with if you intend to use it in grass or dirt areas. The rug so far holds up in the direct sun, and also a lot of rain. No fading or tearing at this time. **Q: Can this be left out in the rain? I have a seasonal trailer site and would like to keep it out for the whole season.** A: I purchased this in April and in New Jersey it has gone through about four massive thunderstorms and rain with no issues. The material is waterproof so it just soaks right through. I also hose it down to clear off any debris or messes. **Q: What are the dimensions of the 9 x 12 rug when folded and in the case?** A: The mat folded into the carry bag (which is rounded) measures approximately 17" x 38". The bag is slightly larger that the mat, so foldup/storage is EASY **Q: I live on the second floor with a balcony where the floor is wood. If I leave this outside and it rains does the rain just go through?** A: The rain cannot sit on it and soak it. Sure the mat will be wet but if you’re asking does it stay damp/wet like a normal rug would, no.
