Review: Does what it is supposed to. Works great on wood - I purchased this for my dad as a gift. He is retired and is a pretty avid carpertor as a hobby. He is also an electrical engineer so he is big on number and measuring twice, cut once. He liked the idea but was not to sure about the marking. At first he would still go for his trusty pencil to make the wood. After a few days he said he got used to using the graphite marker in the tape measure and loved it. He used this when building a 20'x30' garage and said it really did help having one less step to take. Overall this product works. It does what it says and the mark is very accurate. I would recommend to anyone who uses wood. I can't say how it works on other materials but for wood it works great.

Or pre-set the tape measure with a measurement and make your mark in hard to reach places. My only complaint is it's a little dainty. Definitely intended more for a hobbyist rather than a professional. The tape is narrowish, plastic construction is adequate but not super durable. Belt clip could be better. For $20 it's what I expected, and still a great product. I wish they would make a contractor grade one with a metal body and wider tape, but I'm just being not picky.

I purchased this for my dad as a gift. He is retired and is a pretty avid carpertor as a hobby. He is also an electrical engineer so he is big on number and measuring twice, cut once. He liked the idea but was not to sure about the marking. At first he would still go for his trusty pencil to make the wood. After a few days he said he got used to using the graphite marker in the tape measure and loved it. He used this when building a 20'x30' garage and said it really did help having one less step to take. Overall this product works. It does what it says and the mark is very accurate. I would recommend to anyone who uses wood. I can't say how it works on other materials but for wood it works great.

Because the marker part is not at the edge if the tape measure, it is not very easy to understand the actual distance. I just keep it a a spare when I can't find the digital one I use all the time.
