However I don't usually feed them every time I water as it says on the box, I may do it every other time. (I usually water once a week - in a timed manner, as in about 30 to 40 minutes, then take the water away, whereas some people water less). When the violets are blooming I feed more often, then than when they are not. I have had one violet blooming constantly for over a year (unusual for me) and still only feed it every other, or third time. I have heard that this was discontinued from the manufacturer, so while I still have some, I am branching into other violet foods. Is this discontinued or not? **Q: Does it work for orchids?** A: We use it on our orchids and experience fantastic growth and blooming. I've struggled with orchids in the past until I started use it. I do water the orchids about half as often as my violets. **Q: Can this be used in a self-watering pot -- the kind that's a pot within a pot? would i add to the water in the outer pot? if so, how much? thanks!** A: I read a blog about African violets that if you use a self watering, reservoir-type pot you dilute the fertilizer to 1/4 the recommended strength and put that in the reservoir to fertilize. ## Frequently Bought Together - Schultz African Violet Plus Plant Food 8-14-9, 4 fl oz. 1061 - African Violet Natural Potting Soil Mix (Made in USA) (4 Dry Quarts) - GS Garden Self Watering Planters for Indoor Plants : 5 inch 3 Pack White African Violet Self Watering Flower and Herb pots --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/335709300-schultz-african-violet-plus-plant-food-8-14-9-4](https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/335709300-schultz-african-violet-plus-plant-food-8-14-9-4) --- *Product available on Desertcart Argentina* *Store origin: AR* *Last updated: 2026-10-27*
