The only thing that would be hard for a younger kid is the button you have to push to pull the handlebar back up to ride. It is slightly hard to push. My daughter has a hard time pushing it. I think it would be okay for an older kid but a younger kid may need some help. The brake works great too. He hasn't gotten the coordination yet to ride, push off and brake but he will. My daughter has ridden it and said the brake works great. Overall, my grandson absolutely loves it and rides it constantly inside and out. lol Drives my daughter crazy.
