I usually skip less expensive plumbing parts. The design seemed simple because most people don't understand how to work the other type. When the previous one was removed from a house 4 years old, it was discovered that plumber's putty was only on one side. We had no pipe dope so we wrapped the threads with Teflon tape. Put in the plumbers putty. This created a fast drain compared to the other which was a slow drain. The stopper may seem rinky dink but it's simple and I think easier to use. Installed on standard fiberglass tub/shower.
