Great for backpacking
Went hiking up in the Rockies and while I had a bear bag it wasn't scent proof. I used these bags (there are 5) as an inside liner to keep all of nature from smelling my food. I didn't have any wildlife mess with my food or trash but to make sure they really worked I ran another test. Once hope I put a bunch of old fruit and meat in a bag and sealed it up then left it sit outside for 3 days. No animals touched it and when holding it up to my face I couldn't smell anything. While I know animals have a better sense of smell I consider it a success due to the fact nothing even touched the bag.

So far so good!
Took these on a 3 day backpacking trip on the Grafton Notch Loop in Maine. The second night we stayed at the Lane campsite which did not offer a bear box. Put all of the food in one of these bags, put it in a waterproof stuff sack, and then fumbled around in the dark to get it up in a tree. We got it about 10 feet up and called it a night. At that point we were too exhausted to worry about distance from other trees, limbs, etc. It would have been easy enough for a bear, raccoon, or mouse to investigate. There were a number of very active mice out scurrying around the site while we slept. Woke up and the bag was still there, no worse for the wear. Had my pack outside of my tent on a platform the night before with all of my food in one of these bags and nothing bothered it overnight. This is the type of item that I will use until they gave me a reason not to. So far so good.Update - 7/12/17. Reused the same bag for a 3 night trip to the Dix Mountain Wilderness area in NY state. My food and trash were stuffed in this bag and then placed into a waterproof compression sack and hung from a tree. Nothing bothered it all 3 nights. These are fairly durable and have held up so far to the corners of freeze dried meals, crushed beer cans, and assorted food and trash. Will continue to use them until they give me a reason not to and continue to recommend them.

Works as advertised, just be sure to wash your hands before handling bag so you don't transfer food scents to exterior of bags.

Has worked well so far, time will tell. Passed my "leave on the deck" test.
So far, so good. I lined a 10L hanging bag and line it with one of these, and then put my food, soap, esbit fuel, etc in. Seems to work well. To test it, I left the whole hanging bag on my deck for a few days before my trip... nothing messed with. We have skunks, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons and opossums.. and neighbors cats.No problems on my 3 day backpacking trip when hanging the hanging bag PCT style. Early in the season, May, so its hard to say. But I'm going to keep using itNote:... you have to be careful with these. While reasonably strong, these tear/rip from things like the corners of Mountain House packages. I kept one meal in its sealed pouch in the back of my pack for the first night, and repacked all other meals in sandwich baggies. I cleaned and kept the pouch from the first meal for each remaining meal, rolled it up so the corners weren't exposed and carefully stowed in with the food and used it for preparing the remainder of the meals.Leave the barrier bag in the hanging bag in for the trip once you've first packed it.. do not pull it out and stuff it back or it will wear. If you're careful with it, you reduce attracting critters that may not know you are there

I get the bag, but the enclosed 'clips' are... well, still puzzling about it
See the pic of the clip I've attached. The curious thing about them is that there's absolutely no mention or image of them on the package received (assorted sizes). Well, there's a far-shot... you can see one on a bag at a distance. So you look at one, fiddle with it, and think... this is the thing to use? How? Ok, twist the bag, open the clip, close it via sliding clasps..? I dunno, somehow seems a bit different than what I would've come up with. Won't the clip slide off easily? Does it seal the bag? Just seems there'd be a closeup picture showing how to use it effectively. So, for poor documentation, I deduct a couple stars. Yeah, I may be a dense dummy, but, well...

They work. They really work.
Had no issues using these bags- Easy, reusable, effective. The multipack was convenient, with large bags more than big enough for our humble camping needs. Agree with other reviewers that it seems insane these thin bags could be twisted, clipped and actually work...except that they do!That fact was appreciated when I found myself suffering a brutal attack of the menses while out in the woods and wilds! There's no definitive proof that wildlife track human menstrual scent- but hey, I wasn't looking to test it and I was super glad these bags kept it a non-issue for all involved. :)

Good smell proof bags
We liked these very much. Got the assorted pack which comes with two large and three medium bags. We put one large in the bear bag as the main container that everything else goes into, and the smellier foods were in medium bags inside that one (so essentially double bagged the smelly things). Took prosciutto, smelly sausage, eggs, chocolate, trail mix, etc. to bear country and had no smell whatsoever outside the bags. One day I was making prosciutto snacks and there were 20 yellow jacket bees hovering around me, it was scary, as soon as I put the snacks in the bag they left the area!We had our day snacks and sandwiches and sunscreen in one of the medium bags as well, in the outside pocket of the backpacks.A couple of notes: we got a small hole in the day snacks bag, so need to watch out for things that have sharp corners. Also the weight is more that I would have wanted but it makes them more sturdy.
