Blast from the past.
Who remembers this in game cube and ps2?? It was amazing and i lost sleep over it we all did. Strung out on pizza and caffeine playing this all house of the night.Good times. Had to buy an updated version of this just for the memories.Cant say its a perfect port theres some improvement area i think they over looked but they stayed true to the source so cant complain.I like the remake but this game will always be top for me.If your new to RE or getting in to the older ones because you got in to the remakes and want to play the source. Dont over look this one, its a fun action horror.. less horror and more action but still a nice resident evil game.

From a VERY Casual Gamer
I'm not a gamer, really. I played my fair share of NES, SNES and Sega games with my older brother as a kid. Popular classics like the Mario games, Sonic, Donkey Kong etc. Games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sly Cooper etc where the games in my wheelhouse. I was never in the gaming community and only played the small selection of games my parent's bought for me or friends brought over. I did however, get my hands on Resident Evil 2 as a kid. I can't remember where it came from, I guess one of my older siblings friends may have left it over...but I popped in my PS1 eager to play a game series I've heard so much about. I was a blossoming horror nut and I credit RE2 as the game that made me fall in love with zombie. I never got to finish the game and found it incredibly hard (I lacked common sense with puzzles and anything that wasn't a straight forward gameplay style) but the limited time I had with the game stuck with me.Why give all of this dumb backstory? Well, I've slowly gotten back into gaming with some popular newer gen titles and I've been loving it so far. I'd always wanted to play the Res Evil series and picked RE4 up on a whim because I knew it was hailed as one of the best horror/action games of all time...if not one of the best games of all time. Period. It did not disappoint. For someone who likes straightforward and linear gameplay (open worlds leave me feeling lost and overwhelmed. What can I say, I'm a loser), RE4 was a blessing. While there is a slight element of exploration for ammo, health and goods to sell, you always know where to go. You're never lost for 15 minutes wondering what to do next. For a casual gamer like me, this economical gameplay was amazing. The suspense and action is literally almost non-stop. More career gamers who have been there and done that with all kinds of games their entire life probably didn't have the same reaction as me, but I was in a constant state of anxiety (in a good way) about all of the threats the game threw at me. It literally opens with a scenario so seemingly unwinnable my palms began to sweat. Just when you get confident in yourself and just when you get used to the kinds of enemies in the game, something new is thrown at you to keep you on your toes.I found this game just as scary as I did RE2 back in the day. Some fans say that while RE4 is a masterpiece, it's not as scary as the older, less action heavy entries in the series. Can't say I agree. While the action is certainly heightened (to a degree that becomes tongue-in-cheek funny) the atmosphere of the game and the enemies are still just as oppressive and terrifying as anything previously (I've since played REmake and Zero).I've played enough newer gen games to notice that the gameplay of RE4 can be considered slightly dated. Not being able to move while shooting threw me off at first. It felt wrong. But you soon realize it's not really a problem at all as the gameplay is so smooth and always suspenseful that being cemented to the ground while you shoot only adds to the tension.I can't really add anything new that hasn't been said about this game. It's a pure, unaltered blast. While my gaming career has been limited, I still think it says something that RE4 is one of the most purely enjoyable times I've ever has playing a videogame. If hardcore gamers and casuals alike praise a game, you know it's gotta be special. If you haven't played this yet, do so ASAP. You won't be disappointed.

Best Resident Evil Game
If you're a Resident Evil fan, this classic BANGER is so good. Even compared to the remake. It's also a good game to add to your PS4 collection. Experiencing it in HD on a big TV was an experience. Especially if you used to play this game on the GameCube.

Still a gaming masterpiece
Not only the best Resident Evil game but also one of the best videogames of all time.My time with RE4 before this was with the PS2 version, the worst of all ports based on visuals. On PS4 the game looks and plays great at a constant 60 fps. Modern third person shooting games allow movement and shooting at the same time. RE4 does not do that so it may take time to adjust. The game is structured in such a way that it plays very well after getting used to this gameplay mechanic. It is not as scary as other Resident Evil games but still has its scary moments from time to time. Another positive aspect of RE4 is the wide variety of enemies and levels. This keeps the game from getting repetitive. And that is important because this game will easily last 20 hours for the main game alone. That does not include the extras lake Ada's game.Final question is which versions of RE4 are worth it? All of them of course! In more detail:Best: PS4, Xbox One, recent PC release (2014). The consoles have slightly better textures but no anti-aliasing.2nd: PS3, Xbox 360 run at 720p and 30 fps, still excellent3rd: Wii runs at 480p and 30 fps. Some people actually think this is the best port due to the wiimote shooting controlsLast: Gamecube, PS2, 2005 PC release. Gamecube still looks great but excludes extras. PS2 has the worst graphics of all ports and some slowdown. The first PC port was botched, poor controls, graphics (although the graphics could be fixed with mods).Special thanks to Capcom for producing such a fine videogame.
