I am right handed and have always had it to the outer left side so it cant interefere with anything. **Q: Does this require the use of a preamp?** A: No, you don't have to have a preamp but you can use one with this mic if you want. I just use my amplifier and it works beautifully. It is very warm and I have not had any feedback from it at all.
