**Q: When is the best by date? Want to buy for resell in my store**
A: The shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture.  We use a Julian date code that is inked on the lid to designate the date of manufacture (lot code).  The first number references the last digit of the current year (i.e., '6' = 2016), followed by the number of days in that same year, followed by the time of day it was packaged (24 hour clock).  For example: '61201016' = 2016, 120th day (April 24th), at 10:16 AM.

**Q: How suitable are these cherries for chocolate covered cherries?  Is the firmness OK?**
A: I find them fairly crisp (not mushy) like a 'good' maraschino cherry should be. I eat this with ice cream sundaes and use them chopped coarsely for Cherry Bundt cakes. I also just get a couple or more and drain them well and eat them out of hand
I use these to candy/'glacee' them for homemade fruit cakes and if you would like them firmer for your chocolate covered cherries, this might be an option.
Overall, they are very, very good.
