## Description

Classic 1950s guitar colors in easy aerosolsGenuine nitro guitar lacquer—no spray equipment needed! Fast-drying, durable finish resists water and alcohol.Colors based on aged original guitarsVintage finishes vary a lot. Two guitars sprayed together in 1960 look very different today, depending on where they've been all these years. And neither one looks like the day it left the factory. To get an authentic look for our finishes, Erick Coleman color-matched original guitars. Aged Clear lacquer replicates a 1964 Tele neck. It's a clear coat aged with a tinge of brown (not yellow/amber)."I see a lot of vintage guitars in my shop. Most aerosols don't really come close to looking like the colors they are intended to. These new ColorTone finishes nail the look of vintage beauties I've had on my bench."—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisorColorTone® Classic Colors Aerosols can be sprayed over smooth unfinished wood; over sanded grain filler; over sanding sealer, and over ColorTone Stains. Add topcoats of ColorTone Clear Aerosol Guitar Lacquer for a deep hard gloss.A complete guitar typically requires 1 can of sealer, 1 can of color, and 4-6 cans of clear topcoat. For best results, use warm lacquer, not cold. Professionals spray warm lacquer to reduce spatters which require sanding. Warm your aerosol cans in a sink of warm tap water.13-ounce aerosol cans.

Review: love it - works great for top coats on guitars
Review: If you’re doing vintage guitar builds, then this is what you want! - If you’re looking at this product to refinish an older guitar or you’re looking to “relic” a modern player, well, look no further. I bought this to hopefully match a “classic vibe” Squier neck that I was using on a custom built “Tele.” The neck felt great & had that vintage look I wanted, but I wanted it for one of a few boutique Telecaster builds I was working on. Took some tries to sand & match the original finish & I’m still dialing it in, but it gives a pretty close match to the rest of the neck. Hoping to have that build done soon. Well, my desire to be a boutique Tele builder grew faster than expected & I picked up a MIM Tele that needed a lot of work. It had a bad blister in the nitro on the backside, so I decided to “relic” it since the blister was worse than anticipated. Sanded in some wear marks, cleaned up the blister with sanding, & decided to use the rattle can to age it. Sprayed it on my fingers (with a surgical glove) & gently rubbed it onto the sanded parts. Results?! It aged the recently “relic” wood, brought out the grain, & is looking perfectly aged to match the factory Fender vintage neck! It’s gorgeous! Very impressed & plan to use it more while building my custom “Whiskey Workshop Guitars.” Plus, I looked to order first from Stewmac, then saw reviews that said it showed up fast from the desertcarts. Rolled the dice (it was a few bucks cheaper on desertcart) & it showed up a few days later even though the expected date was a couple of weeks later. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this product! When I get my builds completed in the next few weeks, I will launch Whiskey Workshop Guitars on the Facebook & you can see the results for yourself. For now, you just gotta take my word.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use nitro laquer over acrylic laquer**
A: Thanks for your question. Nitrocellulose and acrylic are not compatible finishes, so it is not recommended to use nitro over acrylic.

**Q: can I apply this aged clear lacquer over a previous clear lacquer coat and get the same aged tone described??**
A: Thanks for your question. If your existing clear lacquer coat is nitrocellulose, then spraying the ColorTone Aged Clear will work out just fine and will give you an aged, vintage look. Just scuff sand the existing lacquer with 320-grit sandpaper, and your good to go. If the existing finish is NOT nitrocellulose, though, you will not be able to use this product. I hope this helps.

**Q: Compatible with a new model Squier satin neck finish?**
A: Yes. I have lacquered 2 Squier necks this year, with this product. Great product to give it a more vintage look, when upgrading a Squier.
