Diggory's caring friend Drew teaching another valuable lesson about eating well
Diggory is getting a little round around the middle. Diggory is not able to do his best because of it and he didn't know why! The books are (as always) sensitive so that whatever the issue was, Diggory knows he is still loved. So Diggory starts off by having an issue and his caring friend Drew comes in again to help teach a lesson so Diggory can be a better version of himself. The books always say have good pictures, good drawings, and easy to follow (good rhymes). Albeit, sometimes the words are a little bit more advanced-- maybe for a 2nd or 3rd grader. My 1st grader is ahead on reading and she can figure out the context usually. She said "it was awesome." Her favorite part was about the spinach. She learned "you can't eat too many sweets otherwise you will grow side to side and not up and down." Her younger brother said "you'll grow long instead of tall if you eat candy."Thank you Steve for all your hard effort in making these books. They are the right length for younger kids and they provide real, wholesome advice. We are a conservative household and they are appropriate for us, but I don't think they push a liberal or conservative agenda-- which is a trap a lot of influencers fall into. Kids don't need to be exposed to that kind of stuff. They just need to learn basic life lessons like getting along, don't quit, no one is perfect, treat yourself and your body right.

Kids are crazy about these books!
These are great books that the whole family enjoys. They have an underlying message that is easy for kids to understand and follow. This one in particular has taught my daughter about healthy foods. Highly recommend all of these!

Be A Role Model: Make Healthy Choices
OMG!!!! I absoutely LOVE this book! It arrived just in time to combine with my healthy choices lesson. My student enjoyed listening to the story. The story inspired my students to eat healthy. After I read the story; we enjoyed a celery, carrot and peanut butter snack. We as educators and parents need to encourage healthy eating habits, the challenge is to make nutritious choices appealing. Focus on overall diet rather than specific foods. Kids should be eating more whole, minimally processed food—food that is as close to its natural form as possible—and less packaged and processed food. Be a role model.HUGE Thank to Author Steve Herman for the free book!

Read it. Kids asked for more broccoli.
I read this book to my kids today. They proceeded to ask me for a SECOND helping of broccoli! They then had strawberries for desert (instead of leftover birthday cake)!! We will be reading this again!!I will also add the comments about growing side to side brought back some bad memories of jokes at my expense when I was a kid. But I'm not sure how else the author could have gotten his point across. He did so in the kindest way possible... Thank you very much for getting my 3 year old to actually request more broccoli!!

You can't go wrong with Dragon Books.
My kids were excited to find out that there was a new dragon book. As a mom of 4 kids (age 6,8,9 and 13) I really enjoy being able to find books for them to read that also teach valuable lessons. Even though my kids already love healthy foods it helped remind them of the importance of healthy eating with a story that was easy enough for my 6 year old to understand but interesting enough to keep my 13 year old engaged as well.

An illustrated way to teach an important basic concept
Diggory Doo learns the important concepts of a healthy diet, giving examples of healthy food alternatives to candy and junk food. We love to use the Diggory Doo books in our child therapy office, and plan to also get the plush doll so that children may take on the role of Drew in advising Diggory of the best courses of action in his challenges of growing up.

Includes some fat shaming
I loved this book until I was reading it to my son and got to the part where the kid told the dragon he was going to get fat, and that he basically wanted the dragon to grow up, not out. Other than that, good book to teach kids about healthy eating choices.
