## Description

The TL-PA9020P Powerline Kit transforms your outlets into Ethernet ports for reliable wired connection to all of your devices. This product’s dimensions are 5.2 x 2.8 x 1.7 inches. With 2x2 MIMO, the adapters intelligently transfer data through two streams. The HomePlug AV2 then transfers your data through the electrical wiring within the walls of your home. Beamforming additionally boosts overall performance by strengthening your signal towards powerline devices. The terms “AV2000” and “2000Mbps” are derived from applicable specifications and refer to the theoretical maximum physical-layer data transfer rate. Those terms are used on this product solely to indicate its compatibility with other “AV2000” or “2000Mbps” PowerLine devices. Actual data speeds vary and are limited by the product’s Ethernet port and other network conditions such as data traffic, electrical noise, and wiring issues. If you are uncertain about your network conditions, you should consult an IT professional to assist in selecting a networking product." Make sure your computer’s IP address is in the same segment as your router’s. About power saving, actual power saved varies based on network conditions and environmental factors. Interface Available: 1 x Gigabit Ethernet Port Power Socket; Protocols Supported: HomePlug AV2 HomePlug AV IEEE1901 IEEE802.3 IEEE802.3u IEEE802.3ab; System Requirement: Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista Windows 7/8/8.1/10 Mac Linux.Quality of Service:ToS,Supports up to 4-level type QoS, Support up to 8-level VLAN priority. Certification: RoHS, FCC, UL.

Review: High quality, easy to connect, good English directions. Buy this one! - This is too easy. We have a relatively large house with the router at one end, and the kitchen TV at the far end. The kitchen TV has always struggled with Netflix and YouTube TV streaming. I installed a $20 or so network extender which may have improved the signal, but not consistently. We have just been living with a poor signal, or not using those apps on the kitchen TV…. I selected this product based on the front 110V outlet, no loss of an outlet, and the positive reviews on desertcart. I couldn't quite get the two items in the outlet to plug in with each other, so I put a 3 to 2 outlet adapter to extend the prongs and everything worked fine. The directions are clear, concise, and in English! There is literally only one button to push, and then watch for three LED lights if you are using an ethernet cable to connect to a device (each of mine is to a Samsung Smart TV). You will only have two lights if you are using the device as a "wireless" extender through your home electrical circuits. I took a chance and did not rewire the house to get each unit on the same circuit. It would have been easy to select each circuit and move the wires from one breaker to another. This re-wiring would be a DIY project with a few minutes of a You Tube learning video. The extenders worked flawlessly, and virtually immediately connected to each TV. You do have to change a Samsung TV from wireless network to a wired (ethernet) network in the TV’s settings. Easey-Peasey after a You Tube video. This system works better than expected. We have had rain, thunderstorms, high winds, and sunny very hot days since I ordered and installed the system. It works well, and I haven’t had a glitch at all. Again, highly recommended. Review: Fast easy install! - This is my second set of powerline adapters. I had given my last set to my son because I no longer needed them and then suddenly did! These work is amazing as the last Just plug-in and go. Or you can very easily set up an encrypted connection between the two of them. I didn’t wanna have to pull an ethernet cable to my office for my desktop, and this works just as well. Not quite as fast but fast enough for all I am doing!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will these work in a house with no grounds? None of the outlets in my house have a ground wire.**
A: I encountered this exact situation recently when moving my TV+PS5 to another room in my house and found the particular outlet I needed to use in the new room only had two-prong outlets. I used a very old and simple 3-prong adapter I had lying around to plug in the powerline device and it worked perfectly fine. I haven been using it to play MMO's for years without any issue, and I notice no drop in quality or connection speed playing in the new room with the 2-prong outlet.

**Q: Can I add a third device to extend my ethernet to another floor?**
A: I have router on 2nd floor, my PC and NAS on the first. The whole idea was to cover house with wifi and not to run the wire to PC and NAS and it works fine.

**Q: If my router supports mimo and link aggregation, can i plug both ethernet ports into my router to increase bandwidth to the powerline network?**
A: No. I tried this, assuming that 2 ports on each end must mean that it was a 1-to-1 mapping with no internal ethernet switch, and it absolutely murdered my LAN with some kind of feedback loop until I unplugged the second one. My assumption was based on the advertised "2 gigabit" speed, but from what I can tell, that number is a complete fabrication; its only relationship to reality is that you can plug 2 devices which each have a gigabit network port into the downstream half of the bridge.

**Q: I have a shop 500' from my router but but still share a common electrical panel, will the signal reach that far?**
A: Hi Richard. According to specs on the TP-Link website, the effective range is "300 meters in house". So your 500 feet should be covered OK, but not sure whether the "in house" phrase disqualifies your separate shop building. In theory, since they share a common electrical panel it should be OK (assuming both structures also share the same "main connection", but you might want to verify with a TP-Link support person.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fastest Powerline Adapters I've Tried.
*by S***B on September 26, 2025*

As a long time user of Powerline, my last purchase of these devices was in 2017 and they were the TP-Link AV1200 units. They still work great, but I was curious to see if the the newest Powerline AV2 technology would actually upgrade my network. I've used Powerline for over a decade including AV200, AV500, AV1000 and AV1200 units. Most folks don't understand what Powerline is and how it works, and the companies that market these devices don't do themselves any favors by not explaining it better. The fact is that a Powerline device rated at "1000Mbps" is the "Powerline Rating," not actual throughput. The measured Powerline Rate (you can view this in apps like the tpplc utility) is how fast the units communicate with each other over your electrical lines, and will usually be far less than the rating on the box. Electrical lines are different in every application and introduce noise, interference, and overhead. TP-Link actually has a great explanation of this on their website, and they suggest you can expect 30-35% of the Powerline Rate as real world network throughput. e.g., A 1000Mbps Powerline unit that connects at a 400Mbps Powerline rate might achieve ~120-140Mbps real world network throughput. Or, it may not work nearly this well if the wiring in your home isn't conducive to the units transmitting across your electrical lines. If they are on different circuits, especially if those circuits are on different legs of the electrical panel, the performance may be significantly reduced or may not work at all. You often just have to purchase them and see if it works. Okay then, with that mouthful of technobabble out of the way, did these TP-Link AV2000 units upgrade my network? Yes! But first a little about the setup. We live in a 3300sq ft. two story with the main router in our Home Office in the front corner of the home. Needless to say, 5GHz WiFi signals aren't the best on the other side in the back of the home, so I have a second router setup as an Access Point (AP) for WiFi using Powerline as Backhaul. My AV1200 units average 120-130Mbps on a 200Mbps internet connection - not bad at all, but these new AV2000 units really surprised me and improved my network speed upwards of ~50Mbps. The AP is now averaging in the 180Mbps range with a best speed test near 200Mbps. Very pleasantly surprised since I wasn't expecting this much improvement, and I've attached my best speed test for reference. The only con I can think of with these is what others have already mentioned about the blocking of a three-prong cord if you want to plug an additional item above these. A two-prong will work fine (like a lamp cord), but still subtracting 1-star for the inconvenience. Other than this, these things are about as good as it gets if you want the stability of a wired connection without snaking Ethernet through walls/ceiling and cutting through sheet rock. Highly Recommended.
