They play exactly what the track sounds like, no more no less. No extra bass or compressing of your sounds to make your s*** sound better than it really does. Perfect for mixing.Only downside they are kind of heavy, but my last pair of JL Audio headphones literally snapped in half so I'm not one to complain about durability. I had to return them unfortunately. They were built beautifully and the craftsmanship was superb. I really admired the packaging as well. When I got the chance to listen to them that's we're I was disappointed. They are very clear & I could hear things I normally wouldn't in other headphones but I produce mostly hip hop & R&B music and these headphones lacked the bass that I need to hear. I need to hear those lower frequencies when producing and especially mixing. They just sound shallow to me. I should of read more reviews before buying this. I was shocked that headphones with drivers this large would have more lower frequencies. In Akai's defense I know my ears have taken a beating over the years from DJing in loud venues & events, and also producing loud sometimes. I also noticed that one side wasn't working unless I turn the connector end on the earphone side. Maybe I'm missing something, but I just expected better. Read these reviews & try headphones in person if you can before buying. Everyone has there own taste for different things. I bought these for producing and mixing & I was disappointed Akai unfortunately.
