## Description

Product description A next-generation analog synthesizer Meet minilogue; the stylish, innovative, 37 key analog polyphonic synthesizer. minilogue’s newly developed analog synthesizer circuit delivers polyphony and full programmability at a great price --- exactly what today's musician needs. With the minilogue, you can get your hands on the powerful sound that's only possible with real analog, and find inspiration with features including a polyphonic step and motion sequencer, on board tape-style delay, multiple sound shaping and filter options, and an oscilloscope display. True analog sound. Polyphony and Presets – Perfect. Voice Modes 16-step sequencer. Oscilloscope visualizes the sound. Build quality. The synth circuits for minilogue are all new designs, delivering an uncomparable synthesizer experience. A four-voice polyphonic true-analog synth, it has an interface designed for accessibility. minilogue goes beyond analog synths in its price range by adding 200 preset locations. Select a program for instant access to great sounds - ranging from thick basses to deep pads. Selectable voice modes let you freely configure the four voices for performance. The voices can be set to four note polyphony for chords or layered for thick basses and leads. Get creative with the intuitive 16-step sequencer with motion sequence recording capabilities, and make your sound truly come to life. The OLED display will show the waveform as you sculpt your sound. Visual feedback is both educational and entertaining, and represents a first on a hardware synthesizer. The Minilogue's curved aluminum panel, metal potentiometers, and rubber-coated knobs give it a durable, standout design that complements its powerful sound capabilities. ARTISTS Jimmy Edgar "The minilogue is fun and easy, which is sometimes overlooked in hardware. I want something I can generate musical sounds, and fast. Working on the presets was great, I breezed through a lot of different styles as the architecture isn’t so deep" Richard Devine "The minilogue has been an insane amount of fun to use. The interface is very easy and intuitive. I love its small portable size and 4 voice analog engine sounds incredible." Sync with the groove machine. In addition to the standard MIDI connectors, the minilogue provides a sync connector that can be easily connected to Korg's groove machines. Connect this to a volca series unit, an electribe, or the SQ-1, and experience a session with synchronized sequencer playback.

Review: A few quibbles but a very nice instrument overall - Fun synth! Analog sound wrapped in a digital package. When you turn it on, it tells you it's tuning itself, and it's fine until it's warmed up and then it goes out of tune a little, so I make a habit of power-cycling it a couple of minutes after I power up so it can retune itself. On one hand, it's a little annoying, but on the other hand, it's analog, and I think this is just the nature of the analog beast. I wish the sequencer was easier to program, but it might just be my limited attention span to blame for that. I also wish it had a full-size keyboard, but that would bump the form factor up quite a bit if the number of keys were stay the same, and you could presumably hook it up to a full-size keyboard if you really wanted to. (I may end up doing that.) And why is there no mod controller??? I know, there are knobs to do that stuff with, maybe that's a valid reason for not having one. I do like the filter knob, it's the one big knob, which is appropriate, as it may in effect BE the mod wheel. Also, I wish this had an actual pitch bend wheel instead of the little lever, which is a little sticky once in a while until it gets worked in - pitch bend controllers have to center themselves 100%, all the time, or else they're really annoying. Seems better now that it's been used a bit. I'll call it five stars, just because it's a nice package, real wood on the back, and lots of aluminum - feels like it will hold up to a lot of use.
Review: Great for beginners and fun for veterans - The saying goes "Jack of trades, master of none". I would say this is a pretty accurate description for the Minilogue. This is the swiss army knife of synths, which is great, depending on your needs. There's almost nothing this thing cant produce, but it isn't going to sound as rich as other synths, it's not modular and the menu isn't my favorite. All that being said, with the price tag as low as it is, it's really hard not to love this thing. I spent about a month with 4 different synths and this one ended up being the winner because it will do what all the other synths did, maybe not quite as well, but well enough that it made it the logical choice for someone who is just getting into synths. It is also something that I can grow into and will probably always have around even if I go down the rabbit hole. Overall, if you're new to the synth game, this is the one for you. If you're well versed, this is a fun machine that can do just about everything well enough at a price tag anyone can afford with a little budgeting. It's definitely worth having around.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blown away by sound, ease of use & build quality (a few small cons) !
*by E***D on September 11, 2018*

I absolutely love this. Coupled with the Roland JD-Xi, I think this becomes the best pair of synths ever under $1k. Here's the highlights: - All parameters have easy knob control, hence its easy even for a novice to sound synthesis like me, to create interesting tones. - Amazing build quality & aesthetics (it just looks sexy) - Beautiful high quality pure analog sound - Great quality keys & action (on the stiffer side) - The little oscilloscope to see the wave form Cons - Sequencer could've been much easier to use (eg. the JDXi ingeniously allows recording your live playing which automatically gets converted into the sequencer steps) - A bigger screen with other status info like current preset etc would be useful
