**Q: Is the socket removable? I need to fish the wire threw a hole and reattach the socket.**
A: To take this apart you'll need two things: 1. a thin, flathead screwdriver, and 2. a hook tool

To disassemble: 
Step 1: unscrew the plastic strain relief cap
Step 2: insert the flat screwdriver on one side (NOT the bottom) and pry the tab open.  Repeat for the other side.  
Step 3: pull the assembly apart to reveal the wires.  Notice the wires are tinned, this is important.
Step 4: Pop the contact side buttons out using the hook tool
Step 5: use the hook tool to grab the contact eye, while wiggling the wire. The wire will release.

To reinstall:
Step 1: bend the contact pins back into shape to receive the tinned wire.  It's a squeeze fit only held in place by friction and the strain relief nut. Note one side of the wire slot is larger.  Bend the squeeze channel together to ensure a tight fit.  
Step 2: Bend the small lock tab on the side out a bit using pliers or your hook tool
Step 3: reinstall the contact into the assembly
Step 4: push fit the *tinned* wire end up into the contact through the base
Step 5: reassemble using the strain relief bushing

**Q: approximately how far from the bulb socket is the on/off switch?**
A: The switch is approx. in the middle of the cord.

**Q: does this take a standard llight bulb?**
A: "Standard" is relative to where one lives, but in the USA, E26 is the most common for households.

**Q: Does this work for 4 42w cfls plugged into a 4 way splitter? Please reply if you have experience trying this.**
A: Yes
