It came very sharp out of the box and it's really very handy both at home and work. I am not crazy about the sheath as far as putting the knife back in it when you are busy. Cuts and processes wood just as good as a mora , but has a clip point which makes it great for stabbing and piercing things . Some people don't like the weird sheath (I do) because they don't understand its purpose. It's a boot knife. The sheath is long on the sides because it is a leg protecter . When the knife is in your boot and you go to pull the knife out quickly the sharp tip would scrape your leg, so they designed the sheath so the knife will scrape the sheath instead of you leg .
