It shuts off the flow of water when you push it to the side. Then you can push it back into the open position to drink. You don’t always have to put it in the off position between sips of water, the water flow stops when not actually sipping on the valve. **Q: will this fit the camelbak pure flow tube?** A: I have three camelbak tubes, all blue, which I'm pretty sure are pure flow and this fits them. The brown and grey Camelbak tubes are hydrolinks and this wouldn't fit those. **Q: Will this work for wacool packs?** A: I am not familiar with Wacool packs. If the hose is 1/4 inch it should work.
