I think you will have success if you cut off the plug, strip the end of the wire from insulation, and use the screw terminal. You will not need any special tools - just a good sharp knife. **Q: Can this antenna work and improve am/fm radio reception?** A: It will greatly improve FM reception. AM uses a different type of antenna but a slight improvement may be noticed on AM. **Q: I already have the reel antenna. How do I order just the adapter clip alone?** A: I don't think you can, there is no listing for parts, just solder a small clamp and that's it. **Q: Is there a way (a cable?) to extend the distance from the antenna to the radio?** A: Yes you can use an audio cable extension https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075SV6XZY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ small and cheap and just....perfect *by on Reviewed in the United States September 3, 2026* Great accessory that I use with my ATS mini v4 radio on hikes and fishing trips. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to connect and use *by on Reviewed in the United States May 19, 2026* I clipped this onto my shortwave radio antenna and it brought in channels I hadn't recieved before. This is a great product, at a great price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product but do your research. *by on Reviewed in the United States April 9, 2023* This is an excellent product and does give you better reception but you have to apply some radio knowledge. If you use this inside near tvs or routers etc etc it will mot work well. Fact is your radio won’t either. If you use this with your antenna extended away from electronic noise and of course when shortwave stations are broadcasting you will see resultsOn the east coast of the US I use this out side at night and yes I actually went online to see when the stations are broadcasting. Shortwave is not a clockwork schedule and yes you will need to do some research as to who or what is broadcasting on a given date and timeI would use this again and yes I would give this as a gift.Do not expect the works for a basic wire spool extension but you willSee improvement. ## Frequently Bought Together - XHDATA AN-80 Shortwave Reel Antenna FM SW External Antenna Whip Antenna to Improve Signal Reception Suitable for FM SW Radio - XHDATA D219 Portable AM FM Shortwave Radio Battery Operated Small Great Reception Radio with Good Sound,Earphone Jack for Elder,Home,Child [Gray] - XHDATA D808 Portable AM FM SW LW Air Band Shortwave Radio SSB RDS Multi Band Digital Radio Speaker with LCD Display Alarm Clock External Antenna (Black) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/284479675-xhdata-an-80-shortwave-reel-antenna-fm-sw-external-antenna](https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/284479675-xhdata-an-80-shortwave-reel-antenna-fm-sw-external-antenna) --- *Product available on Desertcart Argentina* *Store origin: AR* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
