Review: Wow!! These extractors are incredible. - I had a 1.0mm Philips screw to remove from a SLR camera lens I got on EBay. The previous owner had tried to take the lens apart to clean out a fair amount of lint on the inside of the lens (enough to affect the picture quality). He completely coned out the head of the screw so that there was nothing left for a Philips screwdriver to grab. He then tried to remove the screw with some needle nose pliers. The screw was completely messed up. I figured there was less than a 50 percent chance that I would ever get that screw out. I put a fair amount of downward pressure on the extractor and it slipped about a ¼ turn. I applied more pressure and slowly turned the screw out. The screw didn't have any Loctite on it. So as soon as it broke it loose, it came right on out. One of the things I never did figure out by reading the product description or looking at the Moody Tools website was what exactly did these extractors look like, and how did they work. Looking at the business end of the extractor, it looks like they machined a "V" notch across it, turned it 90 degrees, and cut another notch across it. So what you have are 4 sharp teeth that can dig into the screw. The steel tips are harden high quality steel, so they should last a long time. The blue handle is aluminum and the black spinner on top is plastic. I probably would have preferred metal spinners, but these plastic ones work really well. The silver shirt pocket clips on the side are just plain annoying. Luckily, they are easy to slide off. Overall, these are high quality, and well made USA tools. I don't think they will save you every time, but they definitely put the odds in your favor. There are some tools you should never skimp on and these are one of them. By saving the lens, they have already paid for themselves. I am now a happy, happy, happy camper.
Review: Does work when used correctly - I saw these on desertcart and have a few small screws with broken off heads. So I decided to give these a try even after seeing a few mixed reviews on them. I went onto Youtube to see if anyone posted a demo and did come across one particular video that recommended these to be used a certain way. The recommendation was to apply the screw on the side instead of right down the middle. I tried that and it did work for me although I had to stop and keep applying it on the side. I have this vintage Leo Quan Badass guitar bridge with a broken screw as seen in the pictures and I finally managed to take it off! Please note that the broken black piece you are seeing in my pic is that off the lock washer from the guitar bridge that needed to be taken off by force in order for the broken screw to come off, it has nothing to do with Moody tool extractor, but I posted it just in case anyone else has guitar bridges with lock washers. Overall, I’m happy with this product.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you use these ? Drill a hole first ?**
A: I found them useless. They are supposed to grip after a hole ... but they don't.

**Q: i have an stripped screw in an iphone this could help me out or not?**
A: Yes this will help remove a stripped iPhone screw. Probably stating the obvious but this method destroys the screw, so you'll want to get some replacements. It will also help somewhat if you push down the back cover to release the pressure on the screws.

**Q: Does it remove Phillips #000 screws?**
A: Yes... one of them

**Q: How do you use the other end? These say they are reversible, but I can't figure out how to reverse them.**
A: I had the same problem. It's a press fit but very tight. Pull the black tip straight out with a pair of pliers while holding onto the blue part. You'll see the bit is double-ended - just flip it around to use the other end/size and push it in until it clicks into the little slot on the blue handle.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Set but didn't work on a Dell E6500
*by F***R on April 5, 2014*

I own a used Dell E6500. There is one screw in the middle of the bottom panel which must be removed in order to slide the panel off for access to the internals of the computer. The screw, 2.5 x 5 mm , was wallowed out round in the Philips head depression. These tools were too light way for the job. But they are good for their intended purposes as I tried to use the small head flat driver to turn the stuck screw with a pair of pliers. The head of this driver did not bend or break under the torque. Had to finally resort to a long taper pointed diamond burr ( set is available for a reasonable price on Amazon) on a low speed setting on my rotary battery powered tool. I taped up all the vent holes around the screw to keep metal dust and shavings out. Cut a notch on each side of the wallowed out depression in the screw head. Just enough to fit a small flat head screw driver. Success! The flat head screw driver turned the screw and I was able to extract it easily. Much to my surprise, there was a cylinder shaped spring along the entire length of the screw threads on the old screw. For what, I don't know. Ordered a replacement screw on Amazon from a company in England. And I won't be adding that compression spring back to the new screw. And using the low speed setting on the rotary tool, I didn't nick the sides of the lower case screw hole. And even if you do, it can be hidden with a felt tip black marker.
