I was looking for a pair of hiking poles that can take a significant portion of my weight (esp. going downhill) as well as aid with stability. I took these on a 4 day hike through a range of terrain from rocks/loamy soil to mud, slippery moss etc. Each day was 5+ hours with the longest being 9 hours. There were many parts of the track where these poles were essential for navigating some treacherous drops. They felt very sturdy under my weight & the shock absorption was good. The straps are comfortable & soft. I had the beginnings of blistering after a long day of downhill/bearing but the subsequent days this did not worsen. They're also pretty light and fold down easily for the parts of the track where I just needed to scramble.
