I bought this to replace the pathetic bowl gouge in my starter set. It has stayed sharp after several uses. The handle is very long, but I find myself not only getting use to it, but wishing that all my turning tools had handles this long. It feels heavy at first, but again, you get used to it fast.I went from having painful and grievous experiences turning bowls, to feeling like a pro. I didn't realize just how much my starter bowl gouge was the root of my hands hurting/bruising. The vibrations were drastically reduced by this tool.
