## Overview

Advecta Plus Cat Flea Treatment is a fast-acting, easy-to-use topical solution designed for cats 5-9 lbs. Utilizing proven active ingredients imidacloprid and pyriproxyfen, it kills adult fleas within 12 hours and disrupts the flea life cycle by eliminating eggs and larvae. Each application provides 30 days of continuous flea prevention, making it an essential monthly defense for indoor cats. Its contact-based formula kills fleas without requiring bites, ensuring rapid relief and lasting protection.

## Description

Advecta Plus Large and Small Cat Flea Treatment contains the same active ingredients as Advantage II for Cats (5-9 lbs). This cat flea topical eliminates adult fleas within 12 hours of application while preventing flea reinfestations for 30 days by eliminating flea eggs and flea larvae. Great for flea season and as monthly preventative treatment, Advecta Plus for Cats flea treatment works through contact on the skin to help control the flea life cycle. Cat owners focused on pet care and their cat's coat can pair this treatment with a flea comb at home, helping with consistent monthly protection for flea-free pets.

Review: Easy to apply. - Works good on this size cat. Not on larger cats. Seems to stop the scratching once given time to get in their system. I like the easy application, I can't get a pill down my cats.
Review: 4 In The Package and They Work - I always buy this brand since I have discovered it. Mainly because there are four in the package instead of three, like most brands. It isn't a lot higher price either by having four in the pack. It's about the same price as a pack of three. But, also because this works for my cat. I can use then for 4 months of treatments before I have to buy another one, which means I only have to buy three boxes a year instead of four which is a huge savings for me. Plus, they're less expensive than the other brands also. They are easy to use because I just have to part the cat's hair right between her shoulder blades and squeeze the tube on. There's not an overabundance of it like there are in some brands that get her hair all oily looking. But with the amount, that is in there, seems to keep any pests away from her. She is a house cat so I'm not sure how these would work for a fulltime outside cat, but for an inside cat I haven't had any problems at all since I've started using this brand. So if flea drops her hard for you to afford I would recommend these where you get four to a pack. Last month I had a cat that showed up here that came in my kitty door to visit us and hung around for a few days. Since I have enough tubes in her box of drops I went ahead and put one on him while he visited to make sure he wasn't carrying anything in that I didn't want here. So if you have one cat or more cats this is a good deal. I've always given my cat a treat after I put the drops on her, which makes it much easier because she knows she's going to get Temptations right afterwards. She has kind of long hair so certain times of the year her hair is harder to deal with than others. During that time I just dampen her hair slightly to separate it so that I can see the skin under. It has to go on the skin in order to work good. She will stand still while I put them on, but when I'm done she goes straight to the kitchen looking up at where I keep her Temptations Treats. Cats are very intelligent. A previous cat that I had I would put the drops on while he was eating. For him it was much easier to do while he was eating. For the length of time they last I would say they probably do last for the full month, because I have a calendar where I put the sticker, that comes in the Box, to show the day I gave or the drops and I don't notice her scratching before it's time to put them on again. Since each area has different types of fleas I can't promise they will work for your area that you live in. I live in the Central Valley of California. With our California heat sometimes it's hard to control fleas, so these drops must be a good product since we don't have fleas in our house.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: hi, is anyone that uses this actually seeing the dead fleas on their floors? like advantage 2? thanks need 2 no..**
A: It's chemically identical to Advantage II so will work exactly the same. If you're seeing dead fleas on the floor it's likely the result of your cat's grooming, scratching, or if the fur is very short. I've used both and have only noticed dead fleas on the floor or on my husband's pillow (a favorite sleeping place) after my cat had a productive grooming session. This was from a cat that used to go outside daily and likely picked up fleas in the yard. Now that he's an indoor cat it's rare to find a flea, but as the dog still goes outside we treat the cats in order to avoid a possible flea issue.
We haven't noticed dead fleas on the floor from the dog but believe they may be in her bed that's laundered weekly during warm weather to remove any fleas or flea dirt. We have used both Advecta and Advantix on her, depending on which is available. As with the cats, they both work the same and are effective.

**Q: I accidentally bought the the 5-9 lb. size for my cat that weighs 13 pounds. Should I use 2 tubes instead of one?**
A: I purposely bought the small cat one for my 15 pound cat, I also break up the dosage over several days so there is less poison on my cat at one time: I put only one small squeeze on at a time. This last time wthin 2 days my cat stopped scratching so I didn't finish using the rest of the tube. It's safer to apply smaller amts of these poisons at a time, so I may just put the rest of the tube in a couple weeks.

**Q: Expiration dates?**
A: There is a production code on the exterior of the box that has the date within the last 6-8 digits.
Someone has mentioned here and in other areas that flea and tick topicals do not have an expiration date or that they do not expire. This is untrue. Using old product can make an animal ill, so it is always best to discard old topicals within a year or two of purchase, using the date code on the exterior of the box as a guide.
For those saying topicals don't expire, I have two veterinarian bills for two separate animals treated with topicals purchased from the previous year because I believed the no expiration hooey. We were fortunate enough that one was young, strong, and determined not to die on us because there is no antidote. He was in hospital for two days and managed to survive. The other didn't make it. We spent thousands of dollars and would willingly have spent more to have both survive instead of just the one.
Topicals, like any other chemical composition, do have a shelf life and over time can become chemically different. Don't assume because there is no expiration date or because it doesn't contain a specific ingredient that it's safe, regardless of how old it is.

**Q: why will it take 3 to for 4 weeks to deliver ? it says it is Prime !**
A: I see this question was awhile ago but maybe it will help someone else too. It did NOT take that long when I ordered it. I had mine in a week. And I think you get free shipping or a discount if you are a prime member.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value, improve applicator QC
*by T***H on November 15, 2018*

Fairly good product with inconsistent applicator bottle quality. Upon opening a packet, I noticed a dose smelling like it had already been opened. Turns out the tip was intact, but liquid product had leaked out the bottom and reacted with the purple dye in the plastic. The purple dye got on my hand and stained it for a day or two. If you've got a substantial infestation, it will take ten days for all the fleas and their progeny to die off before the anxiety of something crawling on you goes away. In my case, I waited a little too long between applications so it took a week before the fleas' interest in me went away. I live in a semi-arid region so mosquitoes and fleas are puny here. The four-foot will scratch but the fleas don't last long, less than two hours after coming back inside. In that respect, this insect killer product does what it says. As labeled, the active ingredient in these is imidacloprid. Imidacloprid is terribly unselective. It'll take out pollinators, lady beetles, squash bugs, fleas, flies, etc. I notice that the beneficial insects (and pests) are knocked out because I get less fruiting in my veggie garden. Hand pollination is a b*tch so keep that in mind if you garden. I'll switch between other name brands occasionally, but this one is pretty good value.
