The back ring turns like a big chuck key and is tightened with torsion bars (orange handled bars seen in picture) inserted into the holes positioned around the chuck body and back ring **Q: Will this work on a psi penpal lathe?** A: I don't know the tpi for your lathe. However, you should be able to get an inexpensive thread adapter here if you need one. I needed one for my harbor freight lathe.
