I Had My Doubts
I had my doubts about this stuff working, but this morning, when I woke up, my pool was clear! This was the first time we had a mustard algae bloom, and I had no idea where it came from, and no amount of shock was knocking it out.I followed the instructions to the letter; 1 capful per 10,000 gallons and 1 pound of shock for each capful. I brushed the sides well, treated my pool, let the filter run until I went to bed, and then said a prayer. Well, my prayers were answered. Yesterday, we had a pool that looked gross with a layer of yellow-brown dirt everywhere, but today, we have a pool that is blue and clean! I added some clarifier this morning to help get rid of the last of the dead algae and will test my water on Wednesday.Follow the instructions and this stuff will work!

This stuff really works!
I couldn't get rid of this yellow-brown algae in my pool for weeks! I used regular algaecide over and over. I tested and adjusted all my pool chemicals, and shocked the pool with 1-1/2 times the usual amount of shock! The algae still persisted! I finally did a little more reading and found out the yellow algae is different and doesn't respond well to most treatments. As soon as I put this stuff in my pool, the problem went away! The algae just cleared right up! I did a few maintenance treatments, just to be safe, but the algae stayed gone for the rest of the swimming season! Make sure you clean all your pool tools and brushes at the same time or they will just re-infect the pool.

Final Update: I did some research and this product will make controlling your pool's free chlorine complicated. I'm glad I only used a little but each time I add chlorine to my pool this product will reactivate and the cycle will continue until the product is gone. So, I didn't get rid of the algae and now I'm going to lose free chlorine quicker. I wish I had just lived with the algae. After a few weeks of struggling I ended up draining about 10% of the water to feet rid of some of this product. It's a process but I'm getting back to normal.I'm leaving 3 stars because the manufacturer made no claims either way, which should have made me do my research before adding it to my pool.If you're looking to buy this before I have a chance to fully test this product, here are my initial reactions.1. I have a 21,000 gallon pool so I added 2 5 capfuls. 1 per 10 000 gallons. I also added 1 gallon of chlorine per capful . Per the instructions.2. You are going to need 1 gallon of chlorine per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Not sure why that isn't clearly stated here.3. After 4 hours of this product being in the pool not much has changed.4. My problem is about 20 spots of algae in the deep end, only one section. Prior to posting this product, I have raised my chlorine level to well above shock and kept it there for 5 days. That made the spots slightly less visible but still there. I've brushed like hell, used a pumice stone, and said oh well, I give up.5. I brushed the area after this product was in the pool for an hour and saw a little dust, maybe.6. The pump has been running on high for the 4 hours the product has been in the pool and will remain so for 24 hours.7. I did not clean the filter before adding this product because the instructions did not indicate this requirement and I completely forgot. I recommend cleaning your filter before you start this party.I hope to return in 24 hours with very good news.

From green to blue in two days
Yellow Trine works great for fixing an algae problem. I cancelled my weekly pool cleaning service due to a new guy slacking on the job. Over the past couple months I've noticed my pool looking worse and worse by the week - walls started getting algae and eventually my water started turning light green. I complained, but the service guy either doesn't know what he's doing or just doesn't care, so I fired him. I decided to take it into my own hands before the problem got out of hand. I read Yellow Trine is perfect for preventing and battling algae, so I ordered from Amazon. It works as advertised on my 25,000 gallon pool. First I brushed the walls and floor to loosen as much algae as possible. I threw in a capful of Yellow Trine followed by a gallon of liquid chlorine in each end of the pool and left my pump on for 24 hours. The next day the remaining algae was gone from the walls and half the pool was already back to looking blue. My pump had full pressure and filter was white before the treatment... after the treatment my pump lost almost all pressure due to my filter collecting lots of green gunk. I cleaned the filter to restore pressure, vacuumed out the dead algae (did this twice due to lots of dead algae on the pool floor) and the next day the whole pool was blue again. Just need to clear the cloudiness and restore PH levels and I'll be set.Keep in mind I knew nothing about pools a month ago. If I can turn my pool from green to blue in a couple days, anyone can with this product. Highly recommended.

Great product!
This product is excellent when used as directed and for the type of algae it is designed for (mustard/yellow algae). My pool is plagued with mustard algae if the chlorine drops even for a couple days. This is the only product (active ingredient) that works. The negative reviews are either not applying it correctly or are treating a form of algae that the product isn't targeting.

Cleared pool but….
Swimming pool cleared up but - it is clumpy and needs to be stirred with fork to break clumps up. ….which enable it to quickly dissolve.
