Cloth diapers must be washed in HOT water. This should get rid of any residue from the ointment. Use Dreft detergent only. **Q: is this clear in color or is it white?** A: A&D ointment is a mixture of petrolatum (like vaseline), lanolin and a few other additives; it's an opaque yellowish color but goes on fairly clear. It does not have the white zinc oxide in it like the stuff you use for diaper rashes. This works well as an every day protectant for diaper changes.
