My daughter will be 4 in a couple weeks and her plan for older kids was right on. She's hasn't been sucking her thumb for the last week and we are well on her way to kicking the habit. After we fill another chart with stars she'll get her blankie back. What an awesome tool. My daugher really benefited from the honesty that Pam suggests you have when speaking to your child about what will happen to their mouth and teeth, speech, etc. I showed my daughter pictures of mouths from adults who didn't stop sucking their thumbs and that had the most effect on her. We had to set blankie aside and up, as Pam suggested, but she can kiss and hug her blankie whenever she asks to, then it goes back up in the closed until she's completed her her success chart.
