**Q: Will this help prevent algae growth in my cichlids  tank?**
A: Be active and clean the algae in every water change. In fact, algae in the tank is a good sign that there is an ecosystem in your tank. Cichlid salt is used to maintain the water hardness.

**Q: How essential is this stuff?  I've had cichlids in multiple tanks over the past 8 years and have never added salt and I have healthy breeding fish.**
A: There is a lot of discussion on this topic. check the internet and you will see a lot of different answers and opinions. I use Cichlid Lake Salt and have no problems with disease or other problems. It is up to you. Your choice.

**Q: I've read that activated carbon can remove minerals and metals.  Would using carbon just remove all of the elements of the salt?**
A: I use both.  Unsure of your answer.  I’d consult a reputable tropical fish store.

**Q: I know with salt water the salt remains in the water when it evaporates, do I add more of this salt when adding more water**
A: The amount of evaporation will not negate the salt content in the water, unless you're losing 10 gallons to dissipation,  I would recommend only adding more at scheduled water changes and only add, the salt amount to water replaced. ie. 30 gallon water change, add salt for 30 gallon new water etc.
