I have only had mine for a couple of months. These seats are made to be bolted on and used, period. **Q: wood or mdf????? the true is???** A: If it says wood veneer, than it's assumed to be wood veneer. PERIOD. If the inside is made from MDF, particle, or plastic/pulp composite, who cares? Apart from glues, that only makes it bettersourced/greener. Wish they told us, since its the bulk of the product, they should legally say. Also, a lot of chrome plated stuff is actually chrome plated plastic, even if it looks metal-ish underneath. Think cheap metal jewelry. **Q: I'm toilet training my cat and need wide FLAT seat (not angled/sloped). Is yours flat? ie if you put a drop of water on it, does it roll off?** A: Edges of the lid are slightly higher than the middle which is fairly flat. The seat itself is very slightly rounded at edges.
