Review: Great set of Prisma color pencils - They are great for the price. Cheaper than Prismacolor premier pencils, slightly harder. But still very good to use
Review: Comparison of four brands - I need a set of 12 colored pencils for marking text. I specifically need pencils that mark easily with not having to press down hard and I also need good contrast between the colors. It was challenging to see a noticeable difference between the light & dark blues and between the light and dark greens. It was almost impossible to get a set of 12 that one of the colors wasn’t white, which is useless for my purposes. That being said, I purchased one set each of Sargent, Prismacolor, Prang and Cra-z-art and compared them. Here are my results. Prisma was probably the best quality and had excellent contrast between the two blues and between the two greens. They marked easily with very little pressure and the range of colors was great. However, for my purposes, I really needed a pink. Prisma had peach or flesh-tone instead that is not pink enough for my needs. I didn’t choose Prisma for that one reason alone. If my purpose was different, it may have been my first choice. The one I chose was Cra-z-art. There was very good contrast between the two blues and between the two greens, plus it had a very pretty shade of pink. It was the only set that didn’t contain white. Instead, there are two reds with good contrast between them as well. They also marked easily with very little pressure. Prang was very similar to the Cra-z-art and was my second choice. The reason it was not number one was because the pink was not as bold as the Cra-z-art and it contained white. Sargent had the best pink. However, it was the hardest of the four and needed more pressure to mark. Also, there was not much contrast between the two blues and between the two greens.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between the Prismacolor "Scholar" Pencil set & the Prismacolor "Premium" Pencil set? Thank you! :o)**
A: Personally, while the Scholar line IS harder than the Premier line, they're still softer than most other colored pencils. The colors are very similar to the Premier line, too, with the exception of Violet. The Violet in the Scholar line is much, much lighter than the Premier violet. When I first got into colored pencils, I wanted the Prismacolor Premier, but I wasn't sure I'd like them. I got the Scholars first, and they were so soft and buttery that I couldn't imagine anything being any better. The Premier is better, of course, but if you're getting into colored pencil art or even adult coloring books, these are amazing pencils for the price. In fact, I have the full set of 150 Prismacolor Premier, and I just ordered another Scholar 60-set. I use them in my coloring books a lot to save my more expensive ones!

**Q: What colors come in the set?**
A: Can I order a set of green shades?

**Q: Would these be good for learning how to blend?**
A: Yes! I've had great success using these to blend! They're perfect for it!

**Q: What is the difference between scholar and premier?**
A: I do not have an answer for the difference, just to say that one of the other answers is incorrect. Premier do come sharpened as well.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent complément aux Prismacolor Premier
*by N***U on 26 January 2022*
