It is an ideal mic for acoustic instruments - which means a totally flat response in the mid range frequencies of which vocal is only an example. Let that be your guide. I have no experience with any other use. Same is true for the stick mic. **Q: Which one of these allow me to connect to a computer via usb? The midnight blue or the champagne?** A: You need a audio interface and xlr cable for this microphone **Q: Is it normal for this mic to have exposed wiring? I mean the bottom cap in the mic to come off easily?** A: It is very easy to open by hand, especially since the included custom mic clip nut engages with one of the parts that can unscrew from the main body. With the clip-mount nut removed, the bottom half of the large body will unscrew from the upper mesh-covered half. The bottom body is a cowling that protects the circuitry. I would suggest to MXL that they may want to include a few more threads on the connection between the upper and lower bodies, and to sell a high-quality shock mount and possibly re-think the threading of the mic clip-nut to the connector bracket that is attached to the upper section. Für ein Kondensatormikrofon dieser Preisklasse erwartet man in der Regel absolut keine professionellen Qualitätsansprüche. Wer mit der Erwartung „für unter 90€ kann man hier nichts verkehrt machen“ das 990er bestellt, macht damit absolut nichts falsch. Auf dieses Teil gekommen bin ich durch niemand geringeres als Sylvia Massey, die jnter anderen Mit Prince, Tool und einigen anderen wirklich genialen Bands gearbeitet hat, schon mal in einem Kühlturm ekn Schlagzeug aufnimmt oder eine Gitarre hinter nem Auto herzieht und das Ergebnis im fahrenden Auto recorded. Kurz: einer der schrägsten und besten Köpfe in der Recording - Branche. Das Mikrofon hat einen sehr! neutralen, fast schon zu transparenten Klang , der aber eine gute Basis ist und gerade für Sprache und akustische Instrumente punkten kann. Einsatz vor meinem Boss - Looper? Klingt gut. Aufnahmen direkt „in the Box“? Ja, super. Mit den EQ Plugins und eventuell ein wenig echter Röhre (Einschleifweg, vor dem Interface oder emuliert) kann man dann noch ein wenig die Präsenz „bändigen“.
