I have WAY too many pots for backpacking, and up until now, the Trek Ti Bowl just didn't nest into any of my solo kits. But then my wife joined me. For the two of us, I used the GSI Halulite 1.8L boiler as our main cook pot (which was PERFECT for boiling pasta, then heating sauce for use with the pasta). My "oh, that is cool" moment happened when I checked to see if two nested Trek bowls would fit inside the empty GSI. Answer? Perfectly, with almost zero gap (read: no rattling). Then inside that, I fit a bunch of other gear. For the bowls... The Good: + Perfect size for most any meal + SUPER light + Multiple (like) bowls nest VERY well inside one another + Durable The Bad: - Heat transfer! Ti transmits heat incredibly well, and therefore I'd recommend using a bandana as insulation between the bowl (when filled with hot food) and your hand - Can be hard to nest into anything else... of course, the aforementioned GSI Halulite 1.8L boiler is a perfect cookset companion with these bowls. Overall, I'm very pleased. As a comparison, I also have the Sea to Summit Delta bowls, which are horrible for nesting with another Delta bowl, and are far heavier. While my Snow Peak Ti bowl has nothing stamped on it in that regard, my other Snow Peak Ti gear is stamped as Japan. Not a 100% answer, but a good place to start. Happy trails. **Q: Does this bowl get hot to hold when hot soup is in it?** A: Yes, the outside wall get very hot when very hot when filled with hot soups and stews. I also have the Snow Peak titanium plate, so I just put the bowl on the plate and this diffuses much of the heat. If it is cold enough outside you can always wear gloves. My S.P. titanium double walled mugs don’t get hot. **Q: What's the deal with people posting these rust pictures. This should not rust. Anybody else have this issue?** A: No rust whatsoever. I mainly give my dogs ice cubes out of this. It also goes through the dishwasher.
