It is held in place by elastic straps that go over the mirrors. My only issue is that it doesn't completely cover the whole windshield. There is about 3" on the top and both sides that aren't covered if you slide it down to the hood to cover the windshield wipers. After 2 snowstorms I found this doesn't seem to be a problem. I found that when you remove the cover that small area can be easily brushed off. I understand the newer version has a flap with a dowel in it that extends into the vehicle so when the door is closed it can't be stolen. That's a good idea. ### ⭐ MAYBE 62 INCHES AT BEST. MAN I HATE MISS REPRESENTATION *by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2016* THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE 70 INCHES WHEN FULLY EXTENDED.
