The Blue Oyster Mushroom grow kit comes fully colonized and ready to fruit in a BPA-Free bag. This construct makes growing easy. Simply make 3 to 5 one inch "X" cuts in the bag, put in a temperate location, place the humidity tent over the bag and spray with water periodically. A full set of growing instructions is included. It is not fancy, but quite functional. Our Blue Oyster Mushroom kit is made with sustainable locally sourced golden wheat straw which is shred, hydrated and fortified. It is then inoculated with 100% USDA Organic blue oyster (Pleurotus columbinus) mushroom grain spawn. Each Mushroom Growing Bag weighs approximately 5 pounds and can produce up to three harvests. Actual production depends on many factors such as temperature, humidity, lighting and moisture. Grown under good conditions, the average yield is about 1.5 lb - 2 lb. Beyond Oyster mushrooms just tasting great and being fun to grow, they are a healthy choice. These mushrooms are low in calories and fat, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and very low in sodium. They are also high in protein, fiber, iron, and contain significant levels of zinc, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, folic acid, vitamins B1, B3, B5 and B12, and vitamins C and D. Some oyster mushrooms even contain statins that are a naturally occurring compound that inspired a class of cholesterol reducing drugs. These kits are Green-Earth ready. When growth is complete, bury the bag contents in your garden or compost pile and it will decompose and produce good quality soil. Occasionally another few mushrooms will grow if the environment is right.
