Sportmix Wholesomes Fish Meal And Rice Dry Dog Food, 40 Lb.

Needed to cancel order, due to too much fruit in the ingredients that's CAUSED PIMPLES on my senior Australian Shepherd AND A WART on my 4-yr-old Malamute Husky. (I am cancelling this for the FISH flavor, cause changing the flavor won't resolve their health problem which the food decreased both my dogs immune system in a month. Even if research states, "it's normal" for dogs to have PIMPLES and WARTS. THESE EVENTUALLY TURN INTO CANCER if not caught on time.) We had originally gotten this food due to higher quality foods that are $10 more expensive.My senior dog will eat anything, so it was hard to tell what was going on at first. My Husky will eat anything that's new, as huskies are picky eaters BUT AFTER A FEW WEEKS MY HUSKY was NO LONGER WANTING THE FOOD, EVEN WHEN I had IMPLEMENTED OTHER FOODS.UPDATE: Dec. 31, 2020: Depending on the research you collect and where it's coming from, (basically, go for the more scholarly articles), higher protein is better for your dog of your want to prevent health issues. There's a certain amount they need which boosts their immunity, and the lower percentage protein dog food causes health problems in the long run. Too much fruit is also not good, as stated above.

We have a very sensitive bellied fur baby, and have tried many pricey veterinarian recommended dog food and Sportmix is by far the best. Not only for the price but the clean ingredients, seriously you have to try this. We've had problems with sensitive skin, multiple GI tract issues, allergic reactions to food etc. And with him being 80+ pounds special food gets pricey very quick. Just like other reviews, his stools weren't hard until we completely weaned him off of his old food and he was only eating Sportmix. It takes a few weeks for dog's bellies to adjust to a whole new diet, but as long as they aren't having serious diarrhea, soft stools are to be expected. With 4-5 cups a day this bag has lasted us more than a month. WOOHOO! I have only purchased the fish meal and rice because our dog has had a sensitivity to chicken dog food in the past but I am curious to see if the other formulas work just as well. $30 for 40 pounds of clean ingredients is absolutely amazing. I wish I had known of Sportmix earlier!

Ordering here was so much easier! This is the only food that doesn’t cause my super sensitive, allergy prone staffordshire terrier to break out in weird spots or at times even scratch himself until he’s bleeding. I’ve tried different foods recommended by his vet, making my own and after hours and hours (and I mean HOURS) of research I found that this brand/flavor was similar to some very expensive foods that were recommended for allergies. Other $brands$ also didn’t have anywhere near the same size bag and with a 150lb dog and a 90lb, it’s a big time saver to get bigger bags. He’s a very picky eater and loves this food. I was worried that his little (but bigger) brother wouldn’t approve of it and I’d have to buy separate foods, but he loves it too! I’d almost dare say that it helps with their gas too!

We have always been particularly with what we feed our animals, the normal dog food we would switch between the different meats and it was becoming increasingly difficult to get the two that our dogs favored so I went on the search. A very long meticulous search, oh try this try that oh you have to give them Blu Buffa### tried it, dogs would not eat it, one of our cats would eat the little blue pieces but that was it, humane society got all but a bowl from the bag. I had tried a few other good brands that did not have corn or wheat & making sure they had beet pulp, they ate the food then I had asked my cousin who is a professional dog trainer what brand she feeds hers & where she gets it wish I would have asked her sooner. Our beagle Shaymus beat me to opening the box with the bag of food in it, though he did have to wait for me to open the bag. He was baying like he found gold both paws on the bag tail going 50 mph he could not wait for me to open the bag! Needless to say they all love your food. I even had to switch the cats over, they had stopped eating their own food, all 4 cats were only eating out of the dogs dish!

Although my vet recommends this food and I'm sure it is nutritious, my normally not picky boxer and great dane will not eat this even if I mix Goody's up in it. They lick all the canned food off the kibble and just leave the kibble in the dish. There is no food they've done this with. I think that it tastes pretty bad to dogs. We went with Nature's Recipe acid has very good ingredients and my dogs will eat it.

I bought the fish rather than my usual purchase of the chicken in order to see whether it helped my dog's allergies. It didn't, but seemed like decent quality food anyway; his coat, energy, and poops all seemed healthy. However, he sometimes didn't want to eat - and any time I offered him meat-based food he was happy to eat it. Once my bag ran out and I switched back to the chicken, he stopped refusing food, so I'll stick with the chicken version of this. About two cups a day keep my 45-pound pup going, including on days when we take a hike in the park.

For the price in this being fish and corn free it's really good dog food. I couldn't believe how big the bag was when it was delivered I have a Great Dane and a German Shepherd and it lasted me at least a month. Only downside is how tiny the kibble is. I felt like I had to feed my dogs a little bit more than normal because the kibble was so small.

This is a REALLY good price for VERY high quality food! I like to think the fish-heavy diet I feed my dog is good for her skin and coat. Though it's anybody's guess as to how well that's working, what I will note is that she moved from a very limited ingredient venison diet (she's a little sensitive to other foods, she can get reddening around her eyes and face and has some colitis) to this and so far for about a couple weeks she has been doing perfectly.So glad I found this!
