At first it was a little tricky threading the wand past the drain plug, and one side didn't want to go at all (for what would become obvious reasons). I got to a point about halfway down the wand when it didn't want to go any further. So rather than force it, I pulled the wand back up...and with it a wad of gunk. I know, it's gross and disgusting, but I cleaned it off with my fingers anyway and went delving again. And again. Each time, I'd bring up more gunk. After the third or fourth go, the wand actually went all the way down and a test run showed the sink was already draining better than before. Eventually, I tried going down the right side of the stopper and ended up pulling out the biggest lump of grossness of all. But after that, and a few more probes with the wand to be sure I'd gotten everything, the drain was running totally free again. Yes, I was also able to clean off the wand end so I'm expecting to get more than a few uses out of it. They say to 'sanitize' it for reuse, but I'll probably just soak the end in some antibacterial soap solution or something like that; I'd imagine a run in the dishwasher might make the plastic brittle and I don't want that. We are talking about a drain tool after all -- it's designed to get dirty. Anyway, this is my top advice: Go slow. Be delicate. Use no more than a little pressure. If the wand hits an obstruction, don't force it. Just try to twist the handle a little and pull the wand out. You might not get everything (in fact you probably won't) but every little bit you pull out of the drain is that much less of a plug in the way. Don't be afraid to clean the gunk off and go again. Yes, I do wish the wand was a little sturdier, but at least it got the job done and I'm happy to have a fully functional sink drain again. At this point, my only regret is all the money I wasted dumping Drain-o down that drain. Review: This thing works! - This tool works great. My bathroom sink was clogged, and I had tried a liquid drain cleaner but it didn't work. I figured I'd give this a try....cheaper than a plumber. I was trying to remove the little drain stopper because I didn't think I could squeeze the wand through the small openings in the stopper, but found I didn't even need to remove it. The tool is thin enough for it to fit through without removing the stopper (although once you get to the clog and try to pull out all the gunk, it's difficult to get it all out - not the tools fault - I just had to cut through all the wadded up hair in order to fit the clog through the small openings). I'm sure it's much easier to clear a clog by removing the stopper, but I tried and couldn't figure out how to do it (plumbing is not my gift). I tried draino, then I tried the intense draino and it still didn't unclog it. It turns out the problem was just a gross amount of hair. The attachment piece was easy to attach (but hard to detach). The end of it is just the rough part of a pair of velcro pieces. It is small enough to fit in sink drains without taking out the center stopper. There is a round thing that helps lock the attachment in place that you use to spin the top in the drain, this is effective in gathering more of the gross hair in the sink. Pulling is up is relatively easy but if it is a lot of hair, it takes some effort to ease out of the drain. Now the con was taking the removable tip off and throwing it away. Its really gross so you don't want to touch it long, but it did take some effort to get it off.
