I wanted something that came up a bit higher than standard water shoes. These are awesome! I am so happy I bought them. They were super easy to get on - good zipper, with a nice, extended opening, so you can get your foot in and out with ease! Then they zip up super quick and they have a Velcro tab that will prevent the zipper from coming unzipped until you are ready to remove them. They fit great! The recommended sizing was perfect. I am female, and they recommended one size down from your normal size, which was just right for me. Note - they are not waterproof, as far as hugging your ankle or anything if worn alone (no wetsuit), as I am doing. But, for my purpose, I do not care. I wanted to keep sand and such out of my shoes, and these do that well. With regular water shoes, I always had sand in my shoes. With these, I do not, and my feet/ankles are protected. They are comfortable and easy to walk in, both in and out of the water. I bought them to wear when in my canoe in cold weather since I know my feet will be in the water at some point each trip. If the lake isn't frozen, I like to take the canoe out and these make great 3 season footwear. My feet haven't gotten cold even after being in the water in below freezing weather.
