You need to be competent to undertake electrical work and there are new rules about what you can do where in a bathroom. I am competent because I was trained in electricity and electronics for a living. The supply must be cut-off before starting work and you must have an electrical detector to give you a warning if the circuit that you are about to work on is live as a check to make sure there really is no power present and safe to carry out the work. They are reasonably cheap to buy and it could save your life. I would not undertake electrical work if I had not been trained. If you are not competent I suggest you employ an electrician to carry out the work. The backing box (known as a pattress) was easy to cut for making cable access and easy to fit. It provided the required functionality to allow good fitting of a suitable electrical item - a switch in my case. The quality is good and looks nice.
