But of all the meds that my step son takes for seizures, some are hard coated and grinds up fine. We grind up to 8 different pills at one time with it and one is a vitamin pill that is a decent size. **Q: how many pills can it handle at once? I have large suppliments I have to take and I need all of them crushed, currently I have to do batches** A: It can handle lots and large pills but they need to be cut first. The tablets will progressively fall into the crusher and the little cup on the bottom holds a lot. You are going to be very happy with grinding rather than screw-top crushing :) **Q: I have to crush very small tablets, i take one or two at a time. the medication doseage is critical. will i lose much medication in the mechanism?** A: The meds we were crushing were critical also. I found that if we tapped the grinder on a hard surface a couple of times after we crushed the meds there was no loss. I have been through just about every mechanical pill crusher/grinder on the market, and none of them worked for me. The twist ones gave me repetitive stress injury in my wrists, and the lever crushers gave me bronchitis from inhaling powdered medication twice a day! I finally spent a lot of money on a nursing home-quality electric crusher, and that works just fine but it is bulky, heavy, noisy and uses special cups (an ongoing expense) to hold the pills during grinding. And when I travel, I have had to lug all that apparatus with me. So when I saw the Equadose Pill Crusher I was interested, and after reading some other good reviews I purchased it. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!! The design solves all of the problems I've had with other mechanical crushers -- the grinding handle keeps my wrists still, and the lid keeps the powder inside the chamber. Pills are crushed completely, and as the powder simply drops into the removable base there are no extra cups to buy. I crush up to six pills at a time (depending on size) in under a minute. Keeping the unit clean is a breeze, plus it's small (fits in my hand) and comparatively lightweight. Add to that how well this machine is made, and I feel like I have pretty much the perfect solution to my travel medications needs. I even keep it out when I'm at home for random pain meds, etc. during the day -- it's just so easy to use.It feels very good to find and use a product that has been thoughtfully designed and carefully crafted, especially when one is in a niche and therefore captive market. This appears to be another product that looks well constructed, but is useless. They do warn you that this device won't work for large pills, but it doesn't even work for medium sized pills. The ceramic grinder doesn't "grab" the pill so that it can be properly ground. Another big mistake I made by purchasing a product from this company. I am back to using my 4 dollar pill crusher.......it works much more effectively. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, saves arthritic hand pain *by P***B on Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2017* Very helpful for my aging arthritic hands. I use this to grind pills for two elderly dogs. For larger pills, I have to cut them in half - or fourths for one I used to give but no longer use. I cannot get the handle down into the blue cover, so I have to turn the handle over (upside down) to use the blue cover. Without the cover, I have had pills pop out onto the table or floor. I thank R. C. for the post and photo about pills getting stuck and not grinding. That is a frequent occurrence, but knowing to watch for it helps. I would like to see a device sold with this unit to dislodge pills or pill parts that get stuck and won't fall into the grinding area. I use a small bottle brush or a plastic toothpick to dislodge pills or tiny pill portions, but neither is an optimal solution. I think an improvement in the burr coverage/shape/whatever would help to assure all pills get crushed. I use the rice cleaning method, but have some colored pills that discolored the burr. Also, I crush different pills for two different dogs. I do see significant residue which I brush out, but over time it needs washing to prevent one dog from getting a med the other dog needs but the first one could be harmed by. Therefore, I have washed the unit twice and will continue to wash it every week. The first time, I did not achieve a completely dried status before using it again. Next time, I put the washed unit in front of a fan between the morning and evening uses and it dried completely. All in all, after using a hand crusher for many years until it finally broke through the plastic bowl bottom, this unit is fantastic. So, so much easier to use and less painful for my hands.
