## Description

API MELAFIX Freshwater Fish Bacterial Infection Remedy soothes the transition from store to home by reducing the risk of your fish developing a disease. The fish you bought may already carry a disease. Disease is often difficult to detect, particularly in its early stages. Treat bacterial infections in your fish and reduce the risk of spreading illness to other fish with API MELAFIX Freshwater Fish Bacterial Infection Remedy. Bacterial diseases are caused mostly by dirty aquarium conditions and the addition of infected fish. Fish that are injured and have open wounds are especially susceptible, even in seemingly clean tanks. Bacterial infections, like fin and tail rot, eye cloud, pop eye, body slime and mouth fungus destroy tissue and other organs, and if left untreated, can cause death. API MELAFIX Freshwater Fish Bacterial Infection Remedy is an all-natural antibacterial treatment that heals open wounds, treats bacterial infections and promotes re-growth of damaged fins and tissue, usually within a week. Just add 5 ml per 10 gallons of aquarium water. It will not adversely affect the biological filter, alter the pH or discolor the water. For effective treatment, dose infected fish daily for 7 days, and continue afterward if necessary. Dose new fish daily for 3 days. Remove activated carbon from filter before use, if possible. With API aquarium products, it’s easy to keep a beautiful saltwater, freshwater or reef aquarium. For almost 60 years API has developed premium solutions with proven and effective results for your family and ours. API offers a range of testing kits, water conditioners, and nutritionally superior food, because we’re dedicated to making a better underwater world. They work to provide a safe, hospitable environment for fish such as tropical community fish, cichlids, goldfish and more. At API, we understand the rewards and relaxation of fishkeeping because we have a passion for fish too.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: This site list melafix from two different venders, mars and pond care. big difference in priceing. are they the same?**
A: I've used several different brand types of melafix and found that they work just the same.

**Q: Is it safe to use post-expiration? In other words does it turn toxic to fish or simply starts to lose the effectiveness?**
A: I would think if this is not very much over date, like 6months or so, it would be fine. If it is still sealed, it will be like new or almost. If it is older, it probably, hate to say as this, but I would think it will be okay to use, and just be weaker or maybe not. If you are in doubt, I would buy a new one to be certain. In the past, they never put dates on anything, and now a days they do and the things were used and were okay. Best answers I can give you. Good luck with your issues.

**Q: I guess my butterfly goldfish has fin rot. How should I treat it? It is in a pond with other healthy fish.**
A: If the other fish are healthy. Then you should remove it in to a isolation tank. Be sure to use the pond water when you fill it. There are instructional videos on YouTube that will show you how.

**Q: How is this different from regular strength? They both have 5% concentration in a 64 oz bottle.**
A: My advice is to please ask a professional breeder for direction. Off the self purchases is "gambling" to me!
Best wishes to you and the Fish :)
