This item has a cover which can be used to clear any cuttings stuck between the blades. I am very happy with the purchase because I no longer have to use a knife to cut the green and white portions of the green onion. Had to cut in half lengthwise the white portion of the green onion before cutting it with the 5 blade scissors.Update: After multiple and extensive cutting of green onion stems, did noticed that there is not a need to use the cover to clear the cuttings from the blades during but until after finishing the cutting.
