I like adding some extra flavor to my beats and for that the samples sound very cool to add accents. Craftsmanship is excellent as expected from Roland with a piano-like ebony semi-matte black finish and natural wood face. The instrument feels tense in the beginning, but breaks in over time and you will also learn where to tap and at what velocity. One really needs to practice playing the instrument for at least a couple of months, understand the delicacies of playing an acoustic instrument before complaining about the triggers. It works fine, one just needs to learn where to tap and be consistent about it.

As an acoustic cajon the EL Cajon sounds great.. honestly no need to have it plugged in all the time to enjoy the instrument. Love my El Cajon. I have no musical background and have never played an instrument. Never even heard of a Cajon until 1 year ago when I attended a small jazz show. I thought the instrument was really cool and wanted one but held off. I found myself thinking about it for about a year and then somehow El Cajon came on my radar. I love it and find it relaxing to just bang away to different music that I listen to on my Sonos system. My teenage boys laugh at me and my dogs go crazy. Very happy with the purchase. As a non-musician I fully enjoy it.
