If you have a bit of excess it can be cut off and the rest of the lights will still work. If you put them on 20" wheels, we suggest you don't so you can put them on a larger wheel later, but that's up to you. **Q: will this work with disc brakes?** A: I have disc brakes and had a little bit of trouble with the rear wheel, because the chain is on one side and the disc brake on the other. This caused some problems when installing the battery mount. No issues with the tubing. I had to play around with positioning so that I could screw in the bracket onto the battery pack. I was able to find a position where my screw driver could go THROUGH the disc brake and into the screw to tighten the bracket.
