The stopper also helps stop the water in the funnel from evaporating. I did have to put three stakes (for each) in the pots to hold them upright, but I had planned ahead for that. I'm looking to get a proper holder for them at some point in the future. Not looking forward to trying to cleaning the dirt out of the tips.
