I have the 20 gallon Whisper EX for my fish tank. This filter fits perfect with it, and I can probably go about 1 month between filter changes. I don't notice any issues with the filters either. They fit perfectly in the frame, and a minimum amount of algae grown happens. When it's time to replace them, they pop right back out and go into the trash. The filters are able to hold up, and I've never had any issues with degradation.
